Još sedam mrtvih delfina pronađeno je u četvrtak na plaži na Mauricijusu, objavila je vlada, dan nakon što je ocean izbacio 17 trupala blizu naftne mrlje iz japanskog broda koji se nasukao na koraljni greben.

"Jutros smo našli još sedam delfina u raspadajućem stanju", rekao je Jasvin Sok Appadu iz ministarstva ribarstva.

Rezultati obdukcije 17 delfina pronađenih u srijedu bit će poznati u četvrtak.

Naftna mrlja potječe s japanskog teretnog borda MV Wakashio koji se nasukao 25. srpnja i tjedan dana poslije počeo ispuštati naftu. Brod je u ponedjeljak potopljen.

Greenpeace je pozvao vladu Mauricijusa da otvori "hitnu istragu kako bi se utvrdio uzrok smrti delfina i ima li veze s curenjem nafte iz Wakashia".

Stvarni razmjeri incidenta još se utvrđuju, no znanstvenici su već upozorili na golemu ekološku katastrofu koja bi desetljećima mogla negativno utjecati na gospodastvo te otočne države ovisno o turizmu.
