Civilna zaštita u Gazi objavila je u srijedu da je četrnaest ljudi ubijeno u izraelskom zračnom napadu na školu pretvorenu u sklonište za Palestince raseljene zbog rata, a izraelska vojska je rekla da je ciljala "teroriste" Hamasa. "Ima 14 mučenika i nekoliko ozlijeđenih nakon masakra u školi Al-Džuni u izbjegličkom kampu Nuseirat" u središtu Pojasa Gaze, rekao je glasnogovornik Civilne zaštite Mahmud Basal.

Ranije je kazao da su među poginulima “žene i djeca”. Medicinski izvor u ambulanti al-Avda u Nuseiratu, jednoj od dvije ustanove u koje su prebačeni mrtvi i ozlijeđeni, rekao je za AFP da je broj mrtvih 15 te da ima 44 ozlijeđenih. AFP nije bio u mogućnosti neovisno provjeriti ta izvješća.

Izraelska vojska je u priopćenju rekla da su njezine zračne snage "izvele precizni napad na teroriste koji su djelovali unutar zapovjednog centra Hamasa" u školi Al-Džuni.

Tiskovni ured Hamasove vlade u Pojasu Gaze priopćio je da je u školi, koju vodi Agencija Ujedinjenih naroda za palestinske izbjeglice (UNRWA), bilo smješteno oko 5000 raseljenih osoba u vrijeme udara. Posljednjih mjeseci izraelska vojska je napala nekoliko škola u Pojasu Gaze, optužujući ih da skrivaju zapovjedne centre Hamasa, što palestinski islamistički pokret negira.
